What to Expect When Working Out With Your Husband
What to expect when working out with your husband
Some people dream of working out with their spouse; honestly, that was my dream, and it still is. But let me tell you something: working out with your spouse is not meant for the weak. When you have a super freak athlete as your spouse, the workout is not the cute Run in the Sun you might imagine. It is grueling and challenging, and they will leave you. That is the thing that they do not tell you about working out with your spouses. If you can’t keep up, you are going to get left.
However, I would not change it for the world. Working out with my husband was amazing when we first started dating. I’m not going to lie. It was nerve-wracking at first and embarrassing because I didn’t know. I guess I didn’t want him to see me struggling, especially when I didn’t have a lot of weight on the bar when bench pressing. However, he never really cared, so there’s that.
What to expect when working out with your husband:
- Only some forms of exercise are for you to do simultaneously with your spouse. Lifting weights allows you to work out at the same time, but going for a run might not allow the same. You won’t always be right by your spouse. If that is what you hoped for, you should keep this in mind when planning your workouts. Remember, you guys are most likely at different ability levels.
- When you work out with your husband, you get free competition. If you are super competitive, working out with your husband is great, especially if she’s competitive, too, because you guys can push each other to be better. Seeing the person you love giving their all to be better is always motivating.
- Workouts are easier! Anyone who has done team sports knows it is easier to work out with a partner than by yourself because you have someone to push and hold you accountable. Whether your workout partner is way better or worse than you, just having another presence helps mentally.
- You have a personal hype person, and you are their hype person as well. In marriage, you get a teammate for life, so tackling activities and components in life, such as health or physical well-being and fitness, unifies you more and allows you to grow quickly. It’s also nice to encourage each other and congratulate each other when you have success in the workouts.
It is worth it to work out with your spouse. If you still need to, I hope you do so soon!
