My diaper bag essentials have changed since my firstborn. Unlike my first son, my second one likes to drool. I also just learned some new tricks and products this second round. So Here are my daily diaper bag essentials:
- Diapers are of course an essential necessity. I go between the costco brand and huggies or pampers (whichever has a sale) if I don’t have time to go to costco. I usually pack a stack of eight to ten for whenever we leave the house.
- Wipes like diapers are a must as they also come in handy for my husband and I’s needs. Everyone in our household uses diaper wipes. I stock up on the Costco brand because it’s cheap and easy.
- A change of clothes is an absolute must. For some reason, I did not pack this as frequently with my first son as I do now. Part of that is because, as I mentioned before, my second son likes to drool and spit up way more than my other son. This means at least one to two outfits with each meal.
- Spit rags and bibs are the new necessities this time around. It took me a while to get used to packing spit rags, but now I got it. A couple bibs and spit rags are extremely important with a baby who spits up a lot and drools. If your baby doesn’t do that (I promise you my first son did not do this or did it very rarely) dont bother taking up space.
- Changing Pads are super nice and usually come with the diaper bag you purchase. However, if you are like me and you purchase a bag that you turned into a diaper bag then you need to purchase it separately.
- Snacks for your toddler and for mom and dad become life savers. Goldfish never tasted so good when you are starving or in the car waiting for the next meal. They have saved us from potential meltdowns.
- Toiletries such as lotion, Destin, nail clippers, hair brushes, and baby wash are more for emergencies, but better safe than sorry. The toiletries are packed in the small pocket of the diaper bag.
I also pack a few more items for my toddler, like toys and a change of clothes, just in case he stomps through a puddle. Although having my diaper bag essentials is crucial, so is organizing my bag. It makes it much easier to find everything, but just like a clean house, it makes me feel more put together and ready to tackle the day.
