Working Out In A Hotel Gym

Working out in hotel gym

Working out in a hotel can be hit or miss, depending on the equipment available. But this year, we are not making excuses! On average, most hotels with a gym or fitness area have limited space. Free weights and cardio machines (such as treadmills, bikes, and elliptical machines) and some random machines are at hotel gyms. A squat rack is very rarely available in a hotel gym.

So here is how I did my body-build workout or parts of it. Most of this workout comes from my collegiate track years. However, I had to adjust my workout to what I could use as much as possible.

I’ll share with you a general layout of what you can do to accomplish a simple workout in a hotel gym.

Hotel Workout:

  1. Warmup: You should always warm up no matter where you are. Because I was in a time crunch, I didn’t have a super long warmup. I started with some dynamic mobility exercises. Some examples of dynamic mobility exercises include mule kicks, hip openers, leg swings, cat dogs, etc. Following these movements, I run half a mile on the treadmill or two laps on the track.
  1. Cardio: If you are starting your fitness journey, you might be thinking, Cardio? Girl, the warmup was my cardio workout; in my face, it was my entire workout. I am used to doing my body-building workout with a fifteen-minute bike or treadmill workout. You can choose what that looks like for you. You can do a warmup to complete your workout at a higher level and prevent injury.
  1. Weights: Most likely, free weights will only be present. With the free weights, I did dumbbell row, goblet squat, standing shoulder press, Russian twist, weighted lunges, V-ups, low-hi chops, and a few more.
  1. Cool Down: After you have completed your workout, make sure to stretch or roll out. It is essential to be able to move the next day. Staying consistent is easier if you are not in excruciating pain because you haven’t been working out lately. But it also helps with mobility and keeping your body agile.

Again, although this workout might seem short, the exercise time differs from what makes a workout great or bad. When you are just starting or working with limited resources, the crucial part is getting it done and going hard! Of course, if you are an. Elite athlete, I recommend a local gym if you are working out on a heavy day.

What are some excellent workouts you have done while traveling?
