5 Things Every Fit Mom Does
5 Things Every Fit Mom Does
If you are a mom trying to exercise weekly, here are five things every fit mom does to succeed.
One: Work out when you can! Maintain a flexible schedule so that you can work out when you can when you have an infant. It can be challenging to set concrete times unless you have a personal trainer and babysitter.
When you have kids, you realize that life happens. For example, if your kid gets sick and doesn’t fall asleep until midnight, that 5 AM workout will most likely not be happening. We must be flexible with our ever-changing Mom schedule.
Two: Get specific workouts! Your routine needs to be flexible, but it would be best if you still had a plan. Plan out your workouts and what type of workouts you want.
Know how many sets and reps you have, and sign up for a trainer or specific workouts. Knowing what your workout is permits you walk into the gym or in your home, and not waste time.
Three: Be realistic! Make sure your workouts and where you are now are appropriate for you. As a retired collegiate athlete, sometimes I get down on myself or push myself way harder than I should. I know where I can be fitness wise or where I used to be Pre-pregnancy and pre-birth.
However, I must be realistic with my body and workouts at seven months postpartum. It is not worth risking injury to prove what I already know. I already know the weight I can lift, the time I can run, and the reps I can complete, but I don’t need to prove that to myself right now.
It is more important to show my body love and do what I think is easy now, so I can do what I know is more challenging later. Moms deserve grace.
Four: Wear athletic clothes! You are an athlete, so treat yourself as such. Wearing appropriate clothing allows you to perform your best. It also feels fantastic to wear cute gym attire.
Whether it’s a matching set or a sweatsuit, wear the athletic attire you need to bring out the athlete in you. Please do not wait until you’re strong enough, fit enough, thick enough, slim enough, or less saggy; do it now.
Five: Give what you can! As a mom, giving your all in a workout can mean giving 100% of the 50% that you have. Each day, each workout, and each week will look different. As I mentioned before, life happens, and when you become a parent, life happens often.
Learn how to take a win when you can, even if you had to split your workout in half because you made it to the gym on a body that had no sleep and was running on coffee and Starbucks breakfast. You still made it, and a win is a win.
2024 is the rise of fit moms taking one day at a time and one workout at a time!
