Where To Go To Make Mom Friends
Where to Go to Make Mom Friends
Motherhood can have moments of loneliness. Even with the support of a healthy family and a fantastic husband, you can still crave mom friends. Having people who understand your kids crying because they missed their naptime and not because they want to “cause a scene” or “act out” saves us a lot of emotional energy.
Although we might hope, it is not common sense to understand a toddler learning to say “no.” Many do not recognize these normal stages of childhood.
As our kids learn what they can and cannot do, having other mothers who can relate is valuable. Whether they parent similarly or recognize how to navigate a three-year-old screaming their head off in a grocery store, they remind us of normal children’s behaviors.
So where are these potential mom best friends?
You have to go out and meet them!
I won’t lie to you; as an introverted and tired mommy, it’s the worst thing to think about.
However, take your time deciding if this person can be your new mom-friend before you put in the effort. The critical step, though, is first to find these relatable friends you desire. The best way to do this is to take your children to places you enjoy.
If you and your child enjoy going to the park, you’ll most likely meet other moms there with kids who also like going to the park.
You don’t want to go to a place that makes you or your kid feel overstimulated and gross and try to make friends there because they might not have those same feelings.
Once you encounter moms in the play locations you are in, start a conversation; you will most likely start seeing them more around those exact times. Exchange info if you and another mom hit it off well during the first meeting!
Here is a list of places you can visit to make mom friends:
- Local Parks
- Bookstores
- Public Library
- Daycare/Preschool
- Neighborhood
- Play gyms
- Skyzone
- Churches
- Sports practices or events
- Hiking trails
Knowing where to go is only the first step in creating mom-friend relationships, but it is essential to put things in motion. Good luck, and I hope you make some mom friends!
